On that occasion Mrs. Reljin thanked Wisby Tankers AB and ULJANIK Shipyard for the trust shown and the opportunity given to her to take part in this significant moment when the vessel and the sea touch for the first time.

On 15th May 2015 the last two river barges (PN 13132,13133) of a series for the transportation of crude petroleum and petroleum products were launched in the shipyard 3. MAJ. The barges, of length 59.5 m, width 16 m and with a total height of 4.6 m, will be serviced by special pushers. The barges were constructed by the shipyard 3. In Uljanik on the 10th May Hull No. 498 – “Barda”, constructed by ULJANIK Shipyard for the company Azerbaijan State Caspian Shipping Company from the Republic of Azerbaijan, was launched from slipway no. 1. This ship has been constructed for the transport of 54 wagons and has a deadweight 5000 tonnes, length 154.80 m and width 17.5 meters, with a speed of 14.5 knots achieved by two Uljanik MAN B&W engines, each one generating a power of 2000 kW at 250 rpm.

The ship was released into the sea by the traditional cutting of the rope by Mrs. Yegane Dadasheva, employee of the aforesaid company. The Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Croatia, His Excellency Mr. Kamil Khasiyev, the President of the company Azerbaijan State Caspian Shipping Company, Mr Aydin Bashirov with his closest collaborators, the Mayor of Pula, Mr. Boris Miletić and the President of the Board of Directors of ULJANIK Group, Mr. Anton Brajković, were all present at the launching ceremony.

At the beginning of the ceremony, Mr. Marinko Brgić, President of the Management Board of ULJANIK Shipyard, addressed the guests present with a welcoming speech and emphasized among other things that at present 11 ships constructed in Uljanik Shipyard sail for the Azerbaijan State Caspian Shipping Company. The exceptional collaboration, which started 28 years ago between this leading company and Uljanik Shipyard, has been confirmed and deepened with this Contract and a strong foundation for the continuation of this collaboration has been established, was concluded by Brgić. The president of the Azerbaijan State Caspian Shipping Company, Mr. Aydin Bashirov, pointed out the fact that Uljanik’s shipbuilders nearly three decades ago, in the period between 1984 and 1986, constructed and commissioned to Caspian shippers eight steam ferries - ships for the transportation of steel wagons. All these steam ferries became part of the Caspian fleet and currently successfully sail on the Europe-Caucasus-Asia route. The current collaboration was pursued mainly thanks to the efforts of the esteemed President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Alijev, who is whole-heartedly helping the shipping company in the process of renewal of the Caspian fleet.

Collaboration between Croatia and Azerbaijan is developing in all spheres and it is our duty to support that process by helping each other, it was concluded at the end by Mr. Bashirov.

This was the third launching in Uljanik of this current year while currently on slipway no. 1 the mounting of yard 49 is in progress and which is the second ship for the transportation of wagons constructed by Uljanik for the same client. The contracts for the construction of newbuildings were signed in May 2011, while the delivery of the first ship is scheduled for the end of summer of this current year.
