Launching Yard no. 512

On Saturday 21 May 2016 at 10,45am, Yard no. 512 was launched in Pula. This self-propelled cutter suction dredger was constructed by ULJANIK Shipyard for Netherlands Company Royal IHC B. V. The Director of ULJANIK Shipyard, Mr. Silvan Kranjc, on behalf of ULJANIK Group, welcomed everyone present and expressed his gratitude to all project engineers and workers for their successful collaboration, great effort and cooperation on this project. Along with representatives of ULJANIK Group, the launching ceremony was graced with the presence of representatives of the ship’s owners.

This Contract is different from other standard Uljanik contracts since it involves mounting and partial equipping of the hull of the ship, which will soon be delivered to Royal IHC, who will then complete the ship and deliver it to its final buyer, the Company BOSKALIS. Nevertheless, this project represents the extension of the program related to the construction of very complex ships started in August 2009, when the first dredger was launched from one of our slipways.

As per Uljanik’s 160 years old tradition, the launching ceremony is an event that certainly cannot be carried out without the presence of a lady. Therefore, Ms. Danijela Anjoš from the Financial department, cut the rope and released the ship into the sea. A contract for a self-propelled cutter suction dredger, with length 152 meters, width 28 meters, a total height of 8.9 meters and capacity of 2650 tones, was signed in February 2014.
