On 12th November 2016 yard 513 was launched into the sea. This is the first of a series of ships constructed for the transportation of cars and heavy vehicles contracted by Uljanik shipyard with the company Auto Marine Transport INC. The vessel has 13 decks for the transportation of up to 7000 vehicles and, with a load bearing capacity of 13,370 tonnes, the vessel is 200 m long and 32 m wide. This impressive sized vessel will be driven by a M.A.N. B/W main engine with a total power of 11,200 kW at 117 rpm.

The director of Uljanik shipyard, Mr. Silvan Kranjc, welcomed all attendees gathered at the ceremony of christening of the first vessel constructed for the company SIEM CAR CARRIERS, the owner of the company, Mr. Kristian Siem, executive director Kenneth Ross and the first lady of the event – the godmother, Ms Louisa Siem, as well as the president of the management board of Uljanik Group, Mr. Gianni Rossanda, with all collaborators, valued workers and subcontractors without whom this construction would not have been possible. Mr. Kranjc congratulated all the ship constructors for the successfully realised project, and expressed good wishes that the ship serve successfully and for a long time and keep her crew safe.

On 7th October 2016 at 11:00 hrs, yard 723 constructed by shipyard 3. MAJ for the Spanish company MARFLET MARINE was launched in 3. MAJ Shipyard from slipway no. 2. The Director of 3. MAJ Shipyard, Mr. Domagoj Klarić addressed a warm welcome to the President of the Republic of Croatia, Mrs Kolinda Grabar Kitarović, as well as to all present on behalf of the workers of ULJANIK Group and shipyard 3. MAJ. He further thanked all the project engineers, engineers and workers who took part in the design and construction of the tanker for their effort and engagement. The owner of the company Marflet, Mr. Carlos Cremades, looked back at their long collaboration with Uljanik shipyard from Pula and who, despite the war and decisions made by other shipowners, still did not decide to cancel the contracted newbuildings.

The godmother of the ship, the President of the Republic of Croatia, Ms. Kolinda Grabar Kitarović, thanked the orderer of the ship, the company Marflet, for expressing trust and confidence in ULJANIK Group and 3. MAJ: „I would like to express my gratitude for having been with us in the most difficult times, during the Homeland War. At the time you were one of the few orderers of ships in our shipyards. By doing so you have contributed to preserving jobs, as well as the survival of the Croatian shipbuilding industry which, thanks to you, was and remains a very important part of the Croatian economy“, she said and then, by cutting the rope, wished the ship SANTIAGO safe and calm seas.

In the presence of representatives of the client and classification company Bureau Veritas (BV) and the representatives of ULJANIK, on September 6th 2016, ULJANIK Diesel Engines Factory Ltd. has successfully tested all characteristics of the engine which is intended to be installed on newbuilding 513- the first of a series of vessels for the transportation of cars and heavy vehicles contracted by ULJANIK Shipyard with the Company AUTO MARINE TRANSPORT INC.

The manufactured engine bears the number 410 and same corresponds to type 7S50ME-B9.5 with a maximal continuous power 11.200 kW at 117 rpm.
